1:500 scale "Central East Berlin" GDR Planning Model
Model of the former GDR-City Centre in scale 1:500
The 1:500 Scale GDR Planning Model shows existing and planned buildings in the capital city of the German Democratic Republic as of 1989, the year in which the Berlin Wall fell.
In the GDR era, it was exhibited in the erstwhile Berlin Information centre at the Television Tower and presented with sensor-controlled light effects and audio narration.
This model was built by the Eberhard Bolte model workshop in Leipzig. The buildings with their detailed facades are made of coloured plastic.
