ACTION PLAN 2003 - 2005

After the 7th congress held in Seoul in 2002, Metropolis appointed the focal points for its work until the 8th congress that will take place in Berlin:

Strengthening of the role of Metropolis as a network for the exchange and co-operation among the member cities and the associated partners
With the work of the standing commissions, the upgrading of the internet representation, the programme for technical support and counselling and the awarding of exemplary projects Metropolis intends to help the member cities with qualified services.

Metropolis as advocate of the metropolises and their representative in the international forums
Metropolis intends to extend and intensify the co-operation with other governmental and non-governmental organisations.

Enhancement of Metropolis as locally positioned and globally-oriented organisation
By expanding local structures and regional secretariats Metropolis intends to attract new member cities and to create world-wide networks between the regional initiatives.
